Two recent articles featuring our work with the Consumer Healthcare Products Association

Our work with the Consumer Healthcare Products Association was recently featured in the New York Times and the West Virginia publication, the News and Senitel.

We are proud to have helped CHPA in their effort to keep cold and allergy medicine over-the-counter. Our programs connected hundreds of concerned constituents with their elected officials.

As mentioned in the New York Times, “Prescription-only bills were defeated or failed to make it to a vote this month in Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky and West Virginia after heavy lobbying by the ’Consumer Healthcare Products Association, a trade group representing makers of over-the-counter drugs. Similar bills are still alive in Alabama, Missouri, Nevada, Tennessee, Oklahoma and several other states.” (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/29/us/29meth.html?hp)

Additionally, West Virginia State Senator David Nohe recounted how he’ll never forget the volume of calls he received from constituents against HB 2096 – the bill requiring a prescription for many over-the-counter drugs.

"I felt it was the wrong bill, especially for this area. Everyday we were getting calls from the constituents here opposed to this bill," he said.

"I had gotten the most e-mails I have ever gotten in my life, a lot more than even during my time as mayor, to try to prevent that bill from passing.” (http://www.newsandsentinel.com/page/content.detail/id/546478/Nohe-recalls-fight-for-HB-2946.html?nav=5061)
